The Oliver Airport’s operations manual has formally received its first updates in over a decade following recent Council approval.
Having most recently been updated back in 2013, the Oliver Airport manual no longer accurately reflected the procedures in place today, or the updated infrastructure in and around the airport.
A written report submitted by Kelly Mercer, the Director of Operations, called the 2013 version of the manual “outdated, incomplete, or inconsistent with actual operating practices” in several areas.
Presented to the Airport Advisory Committee last month, the updated aspects covered changes to the operational environment and regulations, along with newer models of aircraft, changes in activity, and updated technological and safety strategies.
The changes also reflect updates to the Airport itself in details such as the runways, now listed as 19 and 01 instead of 18 and 36, as well as documents such as an Airport Master Plan unveiled in 2024 that overrides the previous Strategic and Land Use Plan approved in 2012.
Such updated plans are now kept on the Town of Oliver’s website, in addition to the offices of the Airport Manager and the Director of Operations.
The changes were approved by the AAC, and forwarded to Council for their review. No further discussion was added by Council prior to their approval.
