Team JF Kustoms, led by head coach JF Launier, has clinched Area 27’s GT 54 series championship for the second consecutive year as the premier race track concludes its seventh season.

Aside from winning the GT 54 series at the local motorsport facility, Team JF Kustoms teammate Glenn Bottomley also took home the GT 27 title. “This remarkable achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the team and the entire Area 27 community,” said Team JF Kustoms spokesperson Teresa Launier.

The Area 27 motorsport facility brings together motorsport enthusiasts from across the region, boosting local tourism and stimulating the economy, she noted. Events at Area 27 attract visitors who support local businesses, from hotels and restaurants to shops and services, creating a ripple effect that enhances the community’s prosperity, she explained.

Launier went on to say that the support from local residents and businesses has been instrumental in making Area 27 a success.

“The passion and commitment of everyone involved – from the staff and volunteers to the fans and sponsors – have contributed to an exhilarating season filled with unforgettable moments. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the individuals who work tirelessly at Area 27 . . .  you play an essential role in creating an exceptional experience for everyone who visits the track.”

She added that the team was looking forward to another exciting year ahead, “filled with thrilling races and the continued support of our beloved local community.”

The racetrack was not however without its share of tragedy this past summer with two people from the lower mainland losing their lives in a high speed, single vehicle collision in early June.

The driver of a sports car participating in a private event, failed to navigate a turn in the course, resulting in it striking a concrete barrier at a high-rate of speed, said Cpl. James Grandy, BC RCMP spokesperson.
