The south basin of Osoyoos Lake will be filled with “dragons” tomorrow (Saturday Sept. 21) as the Osoyoos Lake Paddling Club holds its 5th annual Dragon Boat Flag Race in the waters off of Legion Beach Park and the Safari Beach Resort.
The “flag race” is unique, with this event being the only one held in Canada. In this race it’s not about crossing the finish line first but rather its about grabbing the flag first. The first team to raise their flag is the winner.
A 2 km challenge race as well as 250 metre races will also be held.
Time trials will take place from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with “knockout” races from 12:15 p.m. to 3:04 p.m. The 2 km challenge race will be held at 3:19 p.m.
