The Rotary Club of Oliver has honoured its first “Student of the Month,” Elliott Bousfield. The project is a new initiative by the club that aims to recognize one student each month who exhibits leadership and positive change in the school and the community.
Elliott was selected by his teachers for his outstanding contributions to both his school and community. This includes:
- volunteered to help set up the art show for Penti-Con, volunteered and was on site for the whole day;
- participated in Penti-Con in costume;
- made a mask and participated in the PRIDE Arts Festival in Osoyoos;
- is a student who maintains a positive attitude, keeps trying, is a leader in the arts community at South Okanagan Secondary School (SOSS) and looks out for those around him.
Elliott infuses joy in his celebration of sharing art, according to his teachers.
He enjoys many forms of art including watercolouring, doodling, and crocheting stuffed animals and blankets.
He would like to get into embroidering on sweaters.
Elliott has six siblings and in his free time, he likes to hang out with his friends, do his art and play video games.
His passion is to work with animals and he aspires to be a paleontologist or an animal caretaker.
