Easier and more streamlined procedures for cannabis license applications are now one step closer to being implemented in the Regional District of the Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS).

The Board of Directors meeting on Feb. 16 saw the passing of third reading on two amendments. First, an amendment to the Chief Administrative Officer Delegation Bylaw and second, an amendment to the Development Procedures Bylaw, which both together will streamline the processing procedures around the cannabis license applications.

The administrative report notes that these amendments are intended to not only directly reduce the processing times for applications received from the British Columbia Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB), but also to reduce administrative costs.

The process around these amendments have been straightforward and quick. At the Jan 19, 2023 meeting, the Planning and Development Committee reviewed the proposed amendments. Following this, on Feb. 2, each received first and second reading. On Feb. 16 both amendments passed third reading with no discussion.
