The Owl Pub in Osoyoos celebrated its 10th annual Customer Appreciation Night on Dec. 16 with free appetizers and gift giveaway for everyone in the pub. One lucky person walked away with the grand prize of a Corona beer fridge.

“Everybody seems to like coming out for it and it’s a nice way to say thanks to everybody for supporting us all year,” said Owl Pub general manager Tyler Fecyk.

The event is organized by the pub’s event coordinator Clover Daley who is locally famous for her spectacular decorating for events like Halloween and St Patrick’s Day.

For this event she said: “I try to make it more Winter Wonderland than Christmasy with Santa Clauses and all that.” The  decorations stay up until about a week after New Years, she added.

The one change over the years of hosting the event is that people arrive much earlier to get a table – as early as two o’clock in the afternoon she said.

The event is always a full house, “until all the presents are gone!” As to how much the pub spends on the event, “that’s Santa’s secret” she laughs.
