A Willowbrook firefighter is organizing a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for his dad who needs a heart transplant.

Dayton Hayes says his father Pat Hayes will be undergoing pre-screening for a new heart at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver.

Pat was born with a congenital heart defect and has had four heart surgeries (two open) to date.

“He has never looked for financial assistance in the past, but under these extenuating circumstances he needs to not only get better but stay financially stable,” Dayton says.

The young man is hoping to raise money to cover his dad’s flight, hotel, meals, transportation, and other costs as Pat will be unable to work indefinitely. So far, the campaign has raised more than $7,200 on the way to the $10,000 goal.

“We are very thankful to everyone for all the support and well wishes,” Dayton says.
