Oliver hospital’s emergency department will close its doors again this weekend due to a limited number of physicians available to staff it.

The closure will start at 6 p.m. Saturday and end at 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 21. The department closed yesterday for 14 hours, but no reason was given for it.

During an emergency, people are encouraged to call 911 or attend Penticton Regional Hospital at 550 Carmi Avenue.

Interior Health says people suffering life-threatening emergencies (chest pains, difficulty breathing or severe bleeding) should always call 911.

Anyone unsure whether an emergency room visit is warranted can call HealthLink BC (8-1-1), or visit www.HealthLinkBC.ca for non-emergency health information from nurses, dietitians and pharmacists 24 hours a day, seven days per week.
