The Oliver Fire Department rushed to a fire on Highway 97 across from Lion’s park which started approximately at 7:20 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 6.
Though they don’t know yet of the specific cause, the department confirmed it was a human caused fire.
Rob Graham at the Oliver Fire Department said that the fire burnt through about 300 by 300 feet of grassland, while no buildings or structures were damaged.
The fire crew managed to put out the fire and are working on cleaning up the area.
“We’re still currently on scene right now just taking care of any hotspots. So probably within the next 15 to 20 minutes, I think we’re probably going to be clear, everything is mopped up pretty good,” said Graham on Friday night.
