The 51st Atom Fiesta hockey tournament for Atom/U11 hockey players is underway this weekend with 16 teams from across the province and one from Spokane, Washington competing for the honour of having their name on the Canusa Cup.

With non-stop games taking place from Friday evening through to Sunday morning the South Okanagan Minor Hockey Association (SOMHA) tournament will see games played at both the Oliver and Osoyoos rinks. Sunday’s final will be played in Osoyoos. Come out and support the South Okanagan Bandits.

Spoiler alert: The presence of the team from Washington State meant that the American anthem was also sung, but in demonstration that hockey friendship amongst neighbours rises above the political noise with the US anthem cheered just as “O Canada” and the “Okanagan Song” were.
