Mark your calendars because the Tuc-el-Nuit and SOSS production of Sleeping Beauty is set to hit the stage at Frank Venables Theatre at 7 pm tomorrow (Friday).
The production is organized and directed by the Missoula Children’s Theatre, a US based professional theatre company committed to bringing a “real deal” acting experience to students in schools around North America.
In our town, that means kids from kindergarten to Grade 12 auditioned in front of two professional Missoula Children’s Theatre actors this week and were immediately cast into parts, and then spent the remainder of the week rehearsing. Incredibly, by Friday night, the kids will be ready to present a professionally staged, hour-long musical, complete with singing, dancing, a full set and costumes.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre program is about much more than spending one week in theatre. In each MCT cast, girls and boys are equal, the disabled become able, the shy experiment with bravery, the slow are rehearsed to perfection, and the gifted become part of the whole. The kids learn that everyone is necessary for the show to go on, and that hard work can create something wonderful.
We hope you’ll join us to enjoy a great show and applaud our local children’s hard work. We have a ton of talent and enthusiasm in our schools and it is great to see it in action on stage!
Tickets are $10 each for adults and $3 each for kids. They are available at the SOSS or Tuc-el-Nuit school offices in advance, or can be purchased at the door on Friday night.
