WOW, what a gift!

Women of Oliver for Women (WOW) has donated $2,000 towards a youth-bonding trip for Grade 7 students from Oliver and Okanagan Falls.

WOW member Michelle Weisheit said more than 100 students from Tuc-el-Nuit, Senpaq’cin, Oliver Elementary and Okanagan Falls Elementary are going to Gardom Lake Bible Camp in Enderby.

Weisheit said WOW thought it would be great to get all of the kids together on one trip so they can bond before going to Southern Okanagan Secondary School.

“It will be a way for them to build some bridges and meet new friends. When they get to high school the transition won’t be so overwhelming for them.”

Weisheit said the camp features a lot of collaborative games and activities including archery and rope swings.

Another fundraising event for the trip will be a spaghetti dinner at the Oliver Community Centre on Feb. 28. Admission is $10 per person or $30 per family.
