A male driver was arrested for assault after a woman was heard “screaming for her life” in a vehicle near Oliver on Friday evening.
Police say that a complainant reported a vehicle heading north on Highway 97 where the male driver had just pulled a female into the car and she was “screaming for her life” while being held against the floor of the vehicle before driving away.
Oliver RCMP intercepted the vehicle approximately three kilometres south of Penticton with the assistance of Penticton RCMP.
The driver was arrested for assault and a subsequent impaired driving investigation resulted in a 90-day driving prohibition, plus a 30-day vehicle impound.
Police say the vehicle occupants were known to each other. The “domestic dispute” resulted in charges of assault against the male for which he was released on an undertaking to appear in court.
