Area 27 is becoming closer to reality.

The multi-million dollar Motorsports Country Club, located on a bench on Osoyoos Indian Band land just east of Oliver, was showcased to the media, and its many members on Saturday.

Bill Drossos, president of Area 27, and well-known race car driver Jacques Villeneuve, a founding member of the Club and track designer, were on hand to walk the 4.9-kilometre track.

The layout uses the contours of the land, which once was home to acorn field, but by the summer of 2016, expects to be hosting car enthusiasts and potentially, racing events.

The Chronicle caught up with Drossos and Villeneuve Sunday morning at Spirit Ridge Resort in Osoyoos.

Watch for this Wednesday’s paper, for an in-depth feature on the Club, Villeneuve’s ideas on designing a track, and when fans can expect the mega resort to open to the public.
