Oliver RCMP investigated two motor vehicle incidents last week, one involving an Osoyoos couple in a ditch.
Police received a call at 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 23 when a complainant observed a single vehicle collision occurring at the north end of Oliver on Highway 97.
The witness reported that he assisted both occupants in exiting their vehicle (Nissan Titan) which was in the ditch. A police officer attended and located both occupants of the vehicle standing on the roadway.
Police report that a demand was made for a breath sample, but it resulted in a zero reading.
The investigation revealed that the couple were heading home to Osoyoos from Kelowna when the incident occurred.
“The driver could not provide a reason how he ended up in the ditch, although police suspect the driver simply fell asleep while driving,” said Oliver RCMP Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth.
The driver was transported to hospital for further assessment of minor injuries.
In another incident the following night, police were called to a single-vehicle mishap on Fairview Road near the water treatment plant.
The driver of the Chevrolet Colorado told police he entered a curve too fast and ended up in a ditch.
There was no sign of intoxication, according to police.
