Town to award capital works projects
Town council is reviewing four capital works projects that will have a big impact on everyone in Oliver.
The contracts involve traffic calming on Park Drive, Fairview Road sidewalk extension, Airport Street rehabilitation, and McGowan subdivision water upgrades.
Council will discuss its options today, including awarding the tender to Grizzly Excavating Ltd. for a total cost of $491,669, and using $212,100 of gas tax money to make up the shortfall in the general capital budget.
Another option is removing the Fairview Road sidewalk project, which would allow more gas tax money to be spent on other council priorities.
