The Town of Osoyoos is looking at opening facilities soon starting with the pickleball and tennis courts, and aiming for a June 1 reopening of the local marina.
The large dog area of the off-leash dog park and outdoor pickleball courts should be open before the end of the week.
“The small dog area of the dog park is under construction right now and we hope to have that finished soon and get some sod to repair the grounds there,” said town CAO Allan Chabot. “We are waiting upon receipt of some signage informing users of physical distancing and hygiene to prevent transmission of the COVID virus for those facilities.”
Once the tennis court fence has been repaired, which Chabot hopes is as early as end of next week, signage will be installed there and the courts will be open.
“We are planning to open the marina on June 1 and will post some signage and devise some administrative measures to reduce risks there. The rest of the public washrooms will be opened on June 1 too,” Chabot said.
The next Osoyoos town council meeting is scheduled for May 19 (Tuesday) but the public is still not allowed to attend in person, but can view online at Osoyoos.ca.
On June 1 the town is also planning to open the splash park, playgrounds and skatepark.
