The Town of Osoyoos activated a level-one Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic Friday.
The EOC will provide information to the public on what the town is doing in reaction to the pandemic. The EOC is also working on a Town response plan “to be ready if and when the virus becomes prevalent in our area.”
“The plan also includes a business continuity plan to ensure that essential services continue throughout the pandemic,” the town stated.
An information line has been set up at Town Hall specifically for COVID-19 response enquiries. This number: 250-495-4653 will be available Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A dedicated email address for the EOC has been set up for questions regarding the town’s response to COVID-19: [email protected].
“Our staff are working hard to ensure that your essential services continue and citizens can do their part in helping to prevent the spread of the virus by practicing the required social distancing, self-isolating as required by the health agencies, and washing hands regularly.” Mayor Sue McKortoff said. “We understand there is concern amongst the citizens and businesses within the Town of Osoyoos as to how long and what the economic impact will be. We do not have an answer at this time but I encourage everyone to support the local businesses that remain open so that they can continue to serve us.”
All other enquiries should be forwarded or addressed to the public health agencies. The town will also be continually updating information as it becomes available on its website at www.osoyoos.ca.
