The Canadian Award for financial reporting has been awarded to the Town of Oliver by the Government Finance Officers Association of Canada and the United States for its annual financial reporting.
The Canadian Award for Financial Reporting Achievement has been awarded to the individuals designated as primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning report.
Oliver Mayor Ron Hovanes officially made the presentation prior to the start of the Town of Oliver Budget Deliberations open meeting Jan. 12. Accepting the award for the Town of Oliver was David Svetlichny, Chief Financial Officer, and Heather Piotz, Deputy Financial Officer.
The Town of Oliver’s annual report has been judged by impartial Canadian Review Committee members to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ designed to clearly communicate the municipality’s financial story and to motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
