Oliver will be flying high thanks to an extended taxiway at the airport.
Town council has awarded a contract to extend the Oliver airport’s taxiway.
A consulting firm has recommended that council award the contract to Peters Bros. Construction for $243,077.
Council will also consider an increase of $18,000 to allow for construction of the taxiway to extend the full length of the existing runway.
TRUE Consulting said the benefits of the project include increased air traffic and increased prime leasable land to attract more businesses to the airport.
TRUE noted the project would improve hazardous sight lines and relieve dangerous access ramp congestion.
In addition, fuel service would be made available to turbine aircraft.
