Interior Health has confirmed that three more staff members of Okanagan Correctional Centre have contracted COVID-19, bringing the total to six now.
The additional cases were confirmed over the weekend following laboratory tests.
Last week Interior Health reported that three staff members contracted the virus at a two-day training session off site. The six employees are currently in isolation.
According to Interior Health, there has been no community transmission due to the outbreak at the prison.
Six additional COVID-19 cases were reported in the region since last Friday, bringing the total numbers of cases in IH to 405 since the start of the pandemic.
“Now, as we approach fall, I urge everyone to redouble their commitment to fighting this pandemic,” said Interior Health CEO Susan Brown.
