Zipping into a store while leaving your vehicle running is not a good idea in Oliver.

So says the RCMP who are reminding residents not to leave their vehicles running while unattended with the keys in the ignition.

Corporal Christina Tarasoff said the Oliver RCMP received two reports of theft of vehicles on Monday when suspects specifically targeted these vehicles because they were left running and unattended.

“Please remember that it is better to have a cold car than no car,” Tarasoff said.

She is also reminding people to avoid leaving items in their vehicles, such as Christmas gifts, phones, and/or wallets for even a short period of time.

“Criminals will break windows to get to items of value in your vehicle,” the officer said.
