A number of recent thefts have kept the paperwork flowing at the Oliver RCMP detachment.
An Oliver resident living in the 5000 block of Sumac Street reported the theft of four winter tires. The tires are described as Dunlop tires, 37/13.5/20” with rims. The rims were from a Ford F-350. The approximate value is $1,781 for the tires, plus the cost of the rims.
On October 18, an Oliver resident in the 5900 block of Okanagan Street reported his unlocked vehicle was rummaged through and several items were taken, including a tennis bag and several tennis rackets, and a pair of Smith brand sunglasses.
On October 21 at approximately 5:49 am, police received a business alarm associated to a business in the 6800 block of Highway 97.
The proprietor attended the scene but did not observe the break and enter until later that morning. An unknown person(s) had bypassed the main door dead-bolt by using a pry tool to chip away at the wood frame. The alarm was activated and the suspect fled.
On October 21, a resident in the 5800 block of Okanagan Street contacted the Oliver detachment to report her unlocked vehicle was rummaged through overnight. Stolen from the vehicle was a binder containing keys.
On October 21, Oliver RCMP received a report of a break and enter to a business located in the 5000 block of Highway 97. The owner reported that at some point overnight, unknown person(s) entered his office through a sliding glass window. The window was broken and the screen removed (not recovered). The office was rummaged through, but it is unknown if anything was taken.
On October 21, police received a report of theft from a vehicle from an Oliver resident residing in the 5000 block of Nicola Street.
The complainant stated the vehicle was entered through the unlocked hatchback. The roof light had been broken off, but nothing of value was stolen.
On October 21, the RCMP received a report of an attempted theft from a vehicle sometime overnight. The vehicle was parked in the 400 block of Skagit Avenue. The owner advised that his car stereo was partially removed from the dash and was left on the seat.
Numerous other vehicles were entered overnight and property was taken. All vehicles were unlocked.
