Despite floods and droughts, in these days of modern irrigation, we take it for granted that water can be delivered efficiently to our homes, businesses, orchards and vineyards. This photo from 1933 shows how water was sometimes hauled in Osoyoos in those days. A horse is harnessed to a sledge/stoneboat with a barrel to haul the water. And without modern irrigation to make everything look green, notice how dry the landscape appears. (Osoyoos and District Museum and Archives)
