Local fire officials have a mystery on their hands.
Media relations officer Rob Graham from the Oliver Fire Department said the half-acre grass fire on top of Secrest Hill Road on June 18 was “suspicious-looking.”
This is because it occurred just after 10 pm that night in an isolated area.
When firefighters arrived, some brush was burning, in addition to a tree, Graham said.
“We’re still looking at the point of origin, so we haven’t determined a cause (yet).”
Graham noted that firefighters knocked the flames down quickly before they could spread. There were no structures nearby.
