Oliver fire officials are investigating a “suspicious” blaze that destroyed a home early Friday morning.
Fire department spokesman Rob Graham told the Times Chronicle that the house on Highway 97 (7200 block) was vacant and unoccupied at the time the fire broke at approximately 1:30 a.m.
“The structure was heavily involved by the time first arriving units were on scene,” Graham said, noting the unknown cause is suspicious.
Eight fire apparatus and 24 members responded and conducted a defensive exterior attack. “Some interior work was done later in the morning, but by that time most of the structure was destroyed.”
It took approximately three hours to fully extinguish the blaze, with Highway 97 closed off for much of that time.
No injuries were reported.
