French immersion students from Tuc-el-Nuit Elementary School are getting hands-on experience as builders.
Deirdre Simpson’s Grade 7 class is renewing the school’s garden by using math, science and applied skills in a year-long project.
The students went to Southside Builders Mart where they toured around and made their purchase.
“They were wonderful to us and even made us popcorn. They cut and delivered our lumber for free,” Simpson said, thanking Aaron Lester who worked with the pupils and provided them with power tools and handsaws.
The students constructed more than a dozen garden boxes over two days and are very proud of their work.
