South Okanagan Special Olympics recently honoured the Watermark Beach Resort and Paul Scanlon, hotel manager, for their support of Special Olympics.

Lee Chic, local co-ordinator with South Okanagan Special Olympics, said they recently presented Scanlon with a plaque signed by Dan Howe, president and chief executive officer with Special Olympics B.C.

The presentation was attended by Reanne Holden, manager, community development, of Special Olympics for the Thompson-Okanagan.

The Watermark has been donating its recycling through Special Olympics for the past six years, enabling the organization to raise funds, Chic said.

“Paul Scanlon and the Watermark Beach Resort have been so supportive of our Special Olympics programs in the South Okanagan for the last few years,” said Holden. “We wanted to recognize these efforts and show our great appreciation for all they have done to support our local athletes.”

South Okanagan Special Olympics provides activities, sports and socializing for adults with various learning disabilities.
