The local hockey season just wrapped up last week, and already, local youth are heading to the soccer pitch for the start of another season.
The 2015 Ice Breaker Tournament is set to run this weekend at Desert Park in Osoyoos, with some games begin played at Southern Okanagan Secondary School in Oliver.
Teams from Pinacles FC – U-11 division all the way up to U-18 – will take part.
Action begins Friday.
- In the U-11 Boys division, Oliver opens against Penticton (Marini) and Osoyoos faces Penticton (Burleigh) in games that both begin at 5:30 p.m. Oliver and Osoyoos teams will face one another Saturday at 10 a.m., with both local teams also on the pitch again at 1:30 p.m. versus Penticton teams.
- In U-12 Boys, Oliver takes on Penticton (Lancaster) Friday at 6 p.m., Summerland Saturday at 11 a.m., and Penticton (Keyes/Selles) at 1 p.m.
- In the U-11/12 Girls division, Friday action has Oliver on the field against Keremeos and Osoyoos takes on Penticton in matches which begin at 5 p.m. On Saturday, Osoyoos faces Keremeos at 10 a.m., Oliver meets Summerland at noon, and Oliver takes on Osoyoos at 2 p.m. Sunday competition has Osoyoos facing Summerland at 10 a.m.
- In U-13/14 Boys, Osoyoos/Keremeos takes on Oliver at 5:30 p.m. Friday. On Saturday, Osoyoos/Keremeos goes against Penticton at 1:30 p.m., and Oliver faces Summerland at 1:30 p.m. Both local teams are back on the pitch Sunday, with Oliver taking on Penticton at 10 a.m. and Osoyoos/Keremeos goes against Summerland at 11 a.m.
- In U-13/14 Girls competition, the two local teams – Oliver and Osoyoos – meet Friday at 5:30 p.m. to kick off the event. On Saturday, Oliver takes on Summerland at 10 a.m. at SOSS in Oliver, then faces Penticton at noon back at Desert Park. Osoyoos meets Summerland at 12:30 p.m. and Penticton (Barron) at 2:30 p.m. Osoyoos returns to the pitch Sunday to face Penticton (Carelse) at 10 a.m.
- In U-15/16 Boys action Saturday at Desert Park, Osoyoos takes on Penticton (Tatla) at 10 a.m., Oliver meets Summerland at 11 a.m. and Penticton (Tatla) at 2:30 p.m., with both games at SOSS in Oliver, and Osoyoos is on the field at 3:30 p.m. against Penticton (Nunes). Osoyoos and Oliver teams will battle one another Sunday at noon at Desert Park.
- In U-15/15 Girls competition, the lone game scheduled as of press time had Oliver meeting Summerland at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at SOSS in Oliver.
- In the U-17/18 Boys division, the one game scheduled is Oliver vs. Summerland at 1:30 p.m. at Desert Park.
Regular season play for all Pinnacles FC teams begins in early April.
