For snowbird Wayne Jensen his standpoint on Donald Trump’s tariff war on Canada is clear. His custom-built truck which he did himself has been outfitted with flag pole and large Canadian flag urging “Buy Canadian”.
Jensen, who is from Prince George, was out and about in Osoyoos on Thursday flying his flag up and down Main Street when the Times Chronicle caught up with him.
He had just picked up the flag in Penticton, which had been made and attached it to his truck on Thursday morning (Feb. 20), somewhat disappointed he didn’t get it in time for Flag Day which celebrated the 60th anniversary of the red maple leaf on Feb. 15. For that he picked up a flag at Home Hardware.

“Encouraging people to buy Canadian,” is the simple purpose, but he reflects the frustrations many Canadians have with finding truly Canadian products at an acceptable price. “I’m doing my best, it’s hard,” he says, adding with a laugh that he’s given up orange juice for apple.
As to whether he thinks this is just a flash in the pan, or something larger that will become a conscience trend amongst Canadian consumers, he said: “I think it depends on people like me, you know, driving around with the flag and keeping it in their brain.” And the flag’s “not coming off!” he adds.
