BC Forestry crews are on the scene of a 0.8-hectare wildfire burning Atsiklak Creek near Oliver Monday morning. The fire is being held and is not expected to increase in size.
The Oliver Fire Department posted to Facebook around 7 a.m. Monday that they had been notified of a “small wildfire burning in the canyon at the north end of OIB land. Members from BC Forestry are on scene and currently setting up a fire guard.”
Two crews responded to the scene last night and worked “relatively late,” according to a staffer from the Kamloops Fire Centre. Two more crew will be arriving later today for a total of eight workers on site.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
