Juliana Martine hopes to inspire youth to participate
The province of BC has three new ambassadors, and one of them is Juliana Martine from Oliver.
She was one of three selected to the team at a gala event on Saturday, Aug. 16 in Merritt.
The 19-year-old said she is very honoured to be selected to represent the province.
“This position will help me network and build contacts for my future career in media. Most importantly, my hope is that I can inspire the youth of Oliver to participate in local volunteer programs such as the Oliver Ambassador Program.”
Martine said this will benefit the community and its youth allowing them to improve their own future.
“Through this ambassadorship I hope to raise awareness of this program in communities that could benefit from this type of youth involvement.”
Martine thanked the citizens of Oliver for their support throughout her candidacy.
The other candidates who were chosen to represent BC are Navjot Takhar from Kelowna and Cheyanne Friess from Trail.
As part of their duties, they travel throughout the province promoting the mandate of education, motivation, and self-esteem.
Martine, an established photographer, was the winner of four awards during the pageant in Merritt. She was recognized for her public speaking skills, community presentation, knowledge, and community table display.
Martine is a former Oliver Ambassador who has helped promote the program because she believes it makes a big difference for youth.
