A 48-year-old Oliver man suffered minor injuries early this morning when his vehicle overturned on Highway 97 near Road 18.
Corporal Brian Evans of the Oliver RCMP report that police responded to the incident at 5:24 a.m. when a red Hyundai Accent travelling southbound left the roadway and overturned. The vehicle skidded across the highway and blocked the northbound lane, according to police.
Cpl. Evans said the single occupant was transported to Penticton Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

“Police are investigating the cause of the collision with early indicators that speed may have been a factor,” Cpl. Evans said.

A followup with the Oliver Fire Department revealed that the driver was out of the vehicle by the time members arrived.

Media relations officer Rob Graham said the highway was closed for about an hour and traffic was diverted to Road 18 and Ryegrass Road.
