Town council has decided that sharps disposal bins are not needed in Oliver.

Last month council directed staff to investigate the need for the bins that were offered by the Interior Health Authority.

But staff determined that “discarded sharps is not a problem in the community.”

Public Works and Oliver Parks and Recreation noted that a total of six discarded sharps required proper disposal. Public Works mentioned that sharps are deposited in public garbage receptacles that are emptied manually. Crews do take precautions when emptying these receptacles to safeguard against accidental injuries.
