Seniors centre plans to reopen

Times-Chronicle Staff

The Oliver Seniors Centre is working on reopening its doors, but no date has been set yet.

President Helga Aston said directors are discussing the issue of COVID-19 and the risks to seniors.

“There is no possible way we can open right now. People want to play pool, they want to play cards; it’s just not feasible,” Aston said.

She also mentioned the popular bingo event, which attracted 150 people last time. No way, too risky, she said.

Aston noted they are in communication with their counterparts in Penticton for best practices during the pandemic.

“It’s a real hardship for seniors,” she acknowledged. “But we are the most vulnerable and we don’t want to take that chance.”
