Ever wonder how much money school board officials and educators make in this district?

Well, it’s all detailed in the statement of financial information released this week.

In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2018, the total remuneration paid to employees whose salaries exceeded $75,000 per year was $9.1 million (not including expenses).

The total for employees who made less than $75,000 was $11 million. The consolidated total was $20.1 million.

Board trustees’ remuneration ranged from $10,644 to $13,182, for a total of $82,889.

For employees, the top wage earner was Superintendent of Schools Beverly Young at $159,000, followed by secretary-treasurer Subra Paliappa at $130,854.

Director of Inquiry Marcus Toneatto was paid $129,832, while principal Catherine Turner took home $125,530.

Principal Shendah Benoit made $124,381, Principal Scott Tremblay’s salary was $124,147, and principal Tracy Harrington made $124,144.

Other high wage earners were: vice-principal Bradley Burns ($100,000), principal Will Eaton ($119,260), principal David Foster ($119,260), principal Glen Heinrichs ($118,861), principal Jason McAllister ($117,939), principal Shannon Miller ($119,260), director of facilities Deborah Sansome ($116,794), teacher Heather Langley ($104,504), vice-principal Naryn Searcy ($100,803), and principal Karen Sinclair ($118,860).

Teachers’ salaries in School District 53 generally range from $80,000 to $90,000 per year.
