Santa is coming early to the South Okanagan this Sunday.
On Sept. 18, Santa will be assisting the Okanagan Motorcycle Riders Association in collecting toys and money for families in need.
The 35th annual Toy Run will make its way through Summerland, Penticton, Okanagan Falls and Oliver Place Mall parking lot (at approximately 11:20 a.m.). This year it will be a “poker run” with cards picked up at each stop. The cost will be a new, unwrapped gift or $20 per poker hand.
The final card will be drawn back in Penticton.
Proceeds raised are donated to the St. Vincent De Paul Society to be added to Christmas hampers distributed in the area
The Society of St. Vincent De Paul is a Roman Catholic based organization of men and women dedicated to helping the less fortunate. Since the early 1990s in Penticton, they have been preparing and handing out Christmas hampers to the needy to help brighten the season. More than 300 hampers per year go out to these families.
The Okanagan Motorcycle Riders Association is a group of motorcycle enthusiasts that enjoy riding and use the Toy Run as an opportunity to give back to the community.
The event is open to all motorcycle enthusiasts to enjoy the camaraderie, look at the bikes, and support the community.
All donations will be gladly accepted.
