It’s hard to find a local cause Osoyoos builder Len McLean hasn’t contributed to in his nearly 10 years operating McLean Construction.

McLean was the recipient of a Paul Harris Fellowship from the Rotary Club of Osoyoos for his generosity to the community at the club’s annual installation dinner at the Osoyoos Golf Club on Wednesday evening.

“Whenever Len is able to donate he will: hockey, golf, fireworks, fire department, school, OIB, Spirit of the Game, Rotary Club of Osoyoos, Osoyoos Coyotes, Festival of the Trees, Desert Sun, Breakfast with Santa, Trick or Treat on Main Street, just to name a few – and that wasn’t a few,” outgoing club president Jeff Duguid said.

The Paul Harris Fellow is Rotary International’s way to recognize generous community members, Duguid explained.

Other local Paul Harris Fellows include Sun Valley Dental Practice’s Dr. Jason Bartsch and Rotarians who have donated more than $1,000.

McLean thanked the club for the recognition.

“I’m not a person that likes to be in the spotlight at all, but this community and people are extremely important to me,” he said.

“The way I look at it is the more successful that I am, the more I can do for others.”

The club also swore in a new board at the installation. Former president Cheryle King is taking on the position again. She’s joined by returning directors Jeff Duguid, Doug Matthews, Brian Rawlings, Bruce Hobin, Jim King, Judy Miller-Bennett and Mike Brosseau.
