Dear Editor:

I would like to encourage lots of people to support spring cleanup events taking place in Osoyoos over the next two weeks.
I would also please ask people to take some time to pick up garbage along sidewalks, in empty lots and in our parks.
Unfortunately, this is a year-round necessity.
Join the many dedicated people whose efforts to help keep Osoyoos, Canada’s Warmest Welcome, a clean and tidy one also.
I talked to one concerned lady recently who was picking up cigarette butts in town.
I just wanted to thank her and let her know every bit helps.
To help celebrate Earth Day on Sunday, April 22, why not visit the Osoyoos Desert Centre? Free guided tours are taking place at 10 a.m. and noon. A talk about bluebirds is taking place at 2 p.m. and it will open your eyes and ears to the sights and sounds of spring.
If you want to help or are interested in greeting, gardening or guiding, please phone the Osoyoos Desert Society at 250-495-2470.
Volunteering is fun.
