Editor:
As you know I only spend part of my time in Osoyoos and just came home to find that the town has decided to allow only one garbage container per household as of May 1.
Why not call this what it truly is, a tax on families.
Five people live in my residence when I am at home.
We recycle extensively all year long yet we are allowed one can at our home while residents in my neighbourhood have one or two people in their home and are allowed the same one can.
When my son phoned to complain he was told the move was to increase recycling because of landfill restrictions.
I think the answer is noble but as a property owner for my business as well as my residence all I see is narrow-minded thinking which is imposing a further hardship on young families.
We need households, not just empty nesters.
Who is going to work at our stores and golf courses when we make it difficult for the younger people to pay these tax increases?
I think your council has made a poor decision which is just wrong.
