Osoyoos RCMP are looking for anyone who may have witnessed a man discharging a firearm into the lake.
The event took place on Sunday, July 26 at 7:35 PM. Multiple rounds were fired from a boat into the water near White Sands on Osoyoos Lake.
The man was wearing a white striped top and was riding in a dark coloured boat at the time. Police located the boat and took custody of the sole occupant, a 47-year-old man from Kelowna, and a 9 mm folding rifle.
The man is facing possible firearms charges.
One witness has come forward, but police are seeking others from the busy night on the lake.
“We know others must have witnessed this,” said Osoyoos RCMP commander, Sgt. Jason Bayda. “We are asking any other witnesses to this reckless incident to please contact the Osoyoos RCMP.”
