A 35-year-old Penticton man is facing five charges after fleeing from police in Penticton after RCMP allege he entered a vehicle stolen from Osoyoos.
Daniel Quinn is facing charges of possessing stolen property, possessing a controlled substance, failing to comply with a probation order, prohibited driving as well as assaulting and obstructing a peace officer.
RCMP officers with Penticton’s Street Enforcement Unit and the Target Enforcement Unit located a vehicle in Penticton around 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 2 they allege was recently stolen from Osoyoos. Police say they observed Quinn enter the vehicle parked on Lakeside Road and drive it a short distance before police identified themselves. Quinn fled on foot through a neighbourhood near Lakeside Road and was pursued by officers until he began to punch and kick them prior to being arrested, police allege.
“Both of these teams effectively demonstrated the Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen Regional Detachment’s commitment to crime reduction and prevention,” said Const. James Grandy in a press release.
