The first concert of the 2018 Osoyoos Concert Series season kicks off Oct. 25 with renowned, Quebéc a capella vocal quartet Quartom.

Each of these vocal masters was an accomplished soloist before forming a quartet in 2008. They have toured extensively throughout Canada and Europe and have released two CDs.

Their stage show, entitled Good News According To Quartom, combines the group’s masterful vocal stylings with the good-natured banter they have become known for.

Tenor Gaétan Sauvageau, baritones Benoit Le Blanc and Julien Patenaude, and baritone-bass Philippe Marte have known each other for decades. It is this friendship and affection for one another that allow them to incorporate humour into their concerts.

Their eclectic repertoire includes such diverse genres of music as doo-wop, barbershop, spiritual and classic operetta. The quartet performs in both French and English.

Long-time Osoyoos Concert Series Society committee member Pat Philpott said that the committee chooses the acts based on what they think the community and the snowbirds might like to hear.

“We usually bring in people folks haven’t heard,” she said.

The four-concert series takes place at the 250-seat Osoyoos Secondary School community theatre.

Tickets are $23 in advance for adults and $15 for students and can be purchased at Mills Office Supply in Osoyoos or at Sundance Video in Oliver or at the door for $25.

A season’s pass is $80.

The series begins Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and runs for two hours with a brief intermission.
