Dear Editor:

Re: The Province’s proposal for national park is fair, credible and tries to bridge competing interests. (Opinion column, Sept. 10, Osoyoos Times).

I have not seen any proposals in print. Does the province no longer collect property taxes from the people living within the boundaries of the park? Do the towns still provide water and sewer services to these people?

Are road maintenance in summer and winter provided by the federal government within these boundaries?

Who is going to maintain the forests, the creeks, lakes, hillsides?

People living outside these borders don’t care about these problems, as they are only slightly involved.

So who should have the right to vote for or against this national park idea?

Should the provincial government before it makes any overture to the federal government regarding this at least poll the people within the boundaries for their input?

I sure would like to see a move in this direction.
