Oliver RCMP issued a 23-year-old local man a 90-day driving prohibition after he crashed into a power pole on Friday night.
Police report the single vehicle collision occurred at 11:20 p.m. on Highway 97 at Road 13, where a power pole was sheered off. Despite a pickup truck sustaining extensive front-end damage, the driver was not injured, said Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth.
The Oliver Fire Department responded due to the power line hanging low over the highway, which was shut down until FortisBC attended to repair the pole.
Wrigglesworth said police conducted an impaired driving investigation and issued the motorist the prohibition. The vehicle was towed away and impounded for 30 days.
