Police are looking for a car-jacker after a man with a firearm made off with someone’s vehicle on East Side Road near Okanagan Falls this afternoon.

At 3 p.m., a driver was flagged down by a man standing by a motorcycle on East Side Road. The motorist pulled over to assist, at which time the man pointed a firearm at the driver, according to police. The driver was told to exit the vehicle, at which time the suspect jumped in and drove north toward Penticton. The victim was unharmed, and called 911. 

Officers immediately began conducting extensive patrols in the Penticton, Okanagan Falls and Summerland areas. 

The stolen vehicle is a 2017 Toyota Rav4, light grey, British Columbia licence plate JA790V. 

The suspect is described as: Caucasian male, 20-30 years of age, approximately five fee, seven inches tall, dark brown curly hair, black leather jacket, black jeans. 

Numerous RCMP officers, with assistance from the RCMP helicopter and Police Dog Services are continuing to conduct patrols. 

Should anyone observe this vehicle, they are encouraged to call 911 immediately and not engage with the suspect.
