Daring thieves steal ATM

Police are on the lookout for two daring thieves who stole an automatic teller machine from Spirit Ridge Resort in Osoyoos last Friday.

On February 21 at 4 am the Osoyoos RCMP received a call of a robbery at the popular resort.

Two suspects entered the front lobby that was occupied by the front desk security guard.  The first suspect immediately sprayed the employee with bear spray. The second suspect followed behind and was carrying a red dolly cart.  With the guard incapacitated, the suspects quickly made their way past the front desk and towards the automatic teller machine, which they removed through the back door.

Police seized video surveillance of the robbery.  Both suspects are observed wearing dark clothing including hoodies and facial covering.

Later, the Osoyoos RCMP received a later that the ATM was found on Mt. Baldy Road.  The ATM had been pried open and all of the money had been stolen.

Corporal Jason Bayda said the Town of Osoyoos and Spirit Ridge Resort are both safe and family friendly locations.

“Violent robberies and the theft of ATM machines are not a common occurrence in this area, which makes us believe the suspects targeted this ATM machine and had knowledge of the surrounding area.”

The Osoyoos RCMP are working tirelessly to identify the suspects in this robbery are following every possible lead.
