Oliver RCMP and bylaw enforcement are keeping an eye on Lion’s Park as it continues to be congested with vehicles and fruit pickers.

Some concerns have been raised to the Town about alcohol consumption, marijuana use, dogs off leash and littering. An additional concern is the congested parking lot, resulting in some illegal parking. This has prompted the Town to erect no stopping signs on the highway. The next step is tow-away signs. The Town is also looking at installing parking restriction signs in the parking lot.
In the meantime, pickers are saying they understand why some Oliver residents are intimidated by their numbers, but pointed out there is no violence in the park and they are only there for another two or three weeks.

The Town is planning for a public meeting in July to hear residents’ concerns and possible solutions.
