Hit and run suspect sought
On June 2 the Oliver RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian hit and run at the corner of Station Street and Fairview Road.
Initial investigation indicates that a flagger working on behalf of the Oliver Half Ironman was dealing with the driver of a Ford pickup truck, who became irate at having to wait for the athletes. When allowed to proceed, the truck spun its tires and accelerated forward at an unsafe speed. The initial flagger radioed ahead to her partner to have the vehicle pulled over, but when the second flag person attempted to stop the vehicle, he was struck on his left ankle and sustained minor bruising.
The suspect vehicle was described as a light blue, 1970s model Ford, with a large scoop on the hood and lowered suspension.
Police look for two males
On June 3 at 4:08 am the Oliver RCMP responded to a single vehicle accident in the 1000 block of Fairview Road. A 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee had sheared a utility pole, struck a vehicle parked on the shoulder of the road and ultimately came to rest upside down on a lawn.
The vehicle was unoccupied on police arrival and RCMP are investigating to confirm which of the two males believed to be associated to the vehicle was the driver. Drug paraphernalia and alcohol were found in the vehicle and are believed to be contributing factors.
