School warns of cougar
Tuc-el-Nuit Elementary School is reminding parents to be vigilant in regard to their child’s safety heading to and from school in the Oliver area.

It was brought to the school’s attention on Monday that a cougar has been sighted in the Oliver area, a couple of blocks from the high school and Oliver Elementary School. The sighting has been confirmed by the RCMP.

“As a precaution, please have a deliberate conversation with your child regarding safe practices walking to and from school, including walking with a buddy or in groups,” said Principal David Foster. “We encourage playing outdoors in large groups, in open areas, and with adult supervision. Please escort your child to and from the bus stop and make sure your child is home before dusk and stays inside until after dawn.”
